CHICHESTER- Mr. Richard P. “Richie” Mackin, 72, of Chichester, passed away unexpectedly at the Concord Hospital on February 26, 2021.
Born in Boston, Richie was the son of the late Robert and Annette (Lapointe) Mackin. He was raised and educated in South Boston and resided in the Boston area before moving to New Hampshire in 1987. He had been a resident of Chichester for the past 25 years,
An honorably discharged Veteran, Richie served his country during the Vietnam Era as an SP4 in the United States Army.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Retirement Counselor with the New Hampshire Retirement System. He previously worked for the New Hampshire Division for Children, Youth and Families and had also been the Head of Security for the Boston Children’s Hospital.
Richie was an avid fisherman and cherished his trip with his brothers and nephews to Alaska in 2013. Richie also enjoyed all Boston sports, especially the Celtics.
He was predeceased by his brother, Dennis Mackin and his sister, Patricia Sager.
Richie is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Dorothy L. (Brown) Mackin; his two step-children: Christopher Cope of East Weymouth, MA and Paula Mine and her husband Jeffery of Hingham, MA. He was the brother to Ronald Mackin of Quincy, MA and Larry Mackin of North Carolina. He is also survived by 1 grandson, Logan Mine as well as many nieces and nephews. He was especially proud of his niece Annette Beyea, and nephews Brian Donnelly and Eric Mackin.
In accordance with his wishes, burial with Military Honors will take place at a later date at the New Hampshire States Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. If desired, donations in his memory may be made to Collie Rescue of New England in memory of the many collies that added joy to his life.
