Linda Potter Obituary

CHICHESTER- Mrs. Linda J. (Sjogren) Potter, 69, of Chichester, passed away on July 11, 2021 at the Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, MA after a long illness.

Born in Worcester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Annabelle (Bohegian) Sjogren.  She was raised and educated in Worcester and was a graduate of Burncoat High School Class of 1969.

Linda was employed as a hostess at the Non-Commissioned Officer’s Club at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, where she met her husband-to-be, Doug, who also worked there as a Night Manager during his off-duty hours.  They married in 1986.

When Doug and the family were transferred to Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii, Linda worked at the Mokulele Elementary School as a cafeteria lunch attendant, however, she spent much more time either at the beach on Hickam Air Force Base or on Ko Olina Beach and driving her 1972 Volkswagon bug convertible, which she referred to as Lady Bug.  Following Doug’s retirement from the Air Force, Linda worked as a cashier at J.C. Penney until her retirement in 2016.

Linda was a truly amazing Air Force wife for over 21 years, happily traveling with her husband to various Air Force bases around the country and overseas.  She relished the chance to see other parts of the country, to set up and decorate her new home and to bring normalcy to her family wherever the Air Force sent them.

Linda loved her children and husband very much and made them and her home her first priority in life.  Linda was a very selfless person.  She always put other people first, especially her children, Brittany and Kyle and her husband, Doug.  Linda also loved cats and never considered her house to be a home unless it had a cat.  She considered her kitty as one of her children.

Linda enjoyed doing crafts very much and probably knew what was in every aisle at Michaels.  She had a knack for making something from practically nothing or taking something very simple and making it into something very beautiful.  Every room in her home had something in it that she made.  She was an avid Red Sox fan and would typically schedule dinner when the game started at 7:05 so she could eat and watch the game at the same time.  Having worked all day, Doug was very used to waiting until the game came on to eat.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Douglas J. Potter; her four children, Brittany Potter and her significant other, Eric Paone of Newton, NH, Kyle Potter of Merrimack, NH, Sean Carey of Ashville, NC and Jason Carey of Goldsboro, NC. She was the sister to Albert Sjogren and his wife Sue of Paxton, MA and Sharon Monahan and her husband William of South Dennis, MA.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, July 16th from 9-10:30AM in the Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway in Epsom.  A Graveside Service will follow at 12 P.M. in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory may be sent to the American Stroke Foundation, 6405 Metcalf Ave, Ste 214, Overland Park, KS 66202 or online at americanstroke.org.  To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.stilloaks.com
