NOTTINGHAM - Joanne M. Marsh, 77, of Nottingham passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 19, 1946 in Concord, NH to Martin and Pauline (Audet) Marsh. Joanne was raised and educated in Concord and was a graduate of Bishop Brady High School and the Mary Hitchcock Nursing School.
Joanne was predeceased by her partner, Daniel P. Madigan; her sister, Christine Marsh; her grandson, Fred and great-granddaughter, Serenity. Knowing that she is now with them is a comfort to her family.
Joanne was the eldest of six children and set an example of achievement, creativity and invention. Her siblings include her sister, Christine Marsh of Concord, NH, Stephen Marsh and his wife, Judy of Concord, NH, Michael Marsh of Sorrento, IL, Tom Marsh and his wife, Debbie of Loudon, NH and Paula Boutin and her husband, Rob of Warren, NH.
Joanne was a loving and supportive mother who leaves behind seven children; Lisa Jones and her husband, Jeff of Amesbury, MA, Christa Johnston of Nottingham, NH, Patricia Guarino and her husband, Rob of Nottingham, NH, Mary Madigan and her husband, Sean O’Malley of Wells, ME, Cornelius Madigan of Salisbury, MA, Kathleen Ryan and her husband, John of Salisbury, MA and Maureen Bean and her husband, Tim of Merrimac, MA. As well as 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Joanne spent almost her entire career as a labor and delivery nurse. She had a passion for babies and an even deeper passion for helping mothers bring life into the world. She did her work with a profound sense of pride and purpose. It gave her meaning and was truly her calling. She saved many IQ points over the years with her quick intellect and intuition and helped to improve the birth experience for thousands of women and children.
Joanne’s commitment to her family and loved ones was unwavering. She was always supporting and caring through good times and bad. Her intelligence, quick wit and sense of humor supported her daughters through her final weeks of life and will continue to sustain them through the weeks, months and years ahead. She will be missed so very much.
Calling hours will take place at Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main Street, Pembroke, NH on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 5pm to 7pm. A graveside service will be held at Blossom Hill Cemetery 207 N. State Street, Concord on Saturday September 16, 2023 at 10am.
