CONCORD- Mr. Gene E. “Bubba” Fournier, 59, of Concord, passed away at the Pleasant View Center in Concord on April 9, 2021 after a period of declining health.
Born in Concord and a lifelong resident, Bubba was the son of the late Eugene “Alan” Fournier and Mary E. (Manning) Vincent.
Prior to his illness, Bubba was a jack of many trades. He worked for a time as a painter and sheet rocker and later spent many years working the warehouse for Universal Packaging and New Hampshire Distributors. He also spent several at Swenson Granite, where he was a skilled hydraulic drill operator. He was especially thankful for his job at CAIP doing maintenance. It was here that he made some good friends that remained dear to him, especially towards the end of his life.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, Bubba greatly enjoyed hiking, fishing, boating, trips to the lake, driving and shooting. He was always one to appreciate a good bonfire as well. His “stomping grounds” of West Concord always remained dear to him as well as trips and barn dances at “The Farm.” Above all else, he cherished his special relationships with his family, especially his grandmother, Helmi, his aunts and his nephews. He also shared a special relationship with his brother, Mark, who was not only a brother but his best friend and caretaker as his health declined.
Bubba is survived by his siblings: Mary Harrison and her husband Eric of Canterbury, Mark Fournier of Concord and Christopher Fournier of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his beloved step-siblings and several dear friends.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services at this time and burial will take place at a later date in Concord. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bubba’s memory may be sent to the Riverbend Community for Mental Health, PO Box 2032 Concord, NH 03302.
