Fernand P. "Fern" Marquis

CENTER BARNSTEAD- Mr. Fernand P. “Fern” Marquis, 78, of Center Barnstead, NH passed away on August 18, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a heroic battle with cancer.

Fernand was born on April 7, 1943 in Colebrook, NH a son of the late Alfred and Annette (Chaloux) Marquis.  He was raised and educated in Colebrook.

As a young man, Fern started working in the logging industry with his father. After moving “south,” he learned the skills of a contractor and home builder, teaching his children the tools of the trade.  He owned and operated Fernand Marquis Construction for many years. Fern enjoyed working and found great satisfaction in a job well done.

He enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time with his family doing various projects. Fernand’s love of horses endured throughout his life. 

He was a devoted family man and was a loving husband, father, and great grandfather.  Fern enjoyed getting together with his 12 siblings for fun and laughter on any occasion especially birthdays and holidays.

Fernand is survived by his wife of 55 years, Regina (Giguere) Marquis; children, Robert Marquis and wife Sherry of Northwood, Steven Marquis and his fiancé Kerri Furtado of Deerfield and Rachel Marquis Goyette of Center Barnstead.  He was the grandfather to Kyle, Devin, Kaidin, Ryan, Justin, Samantha, Jennifer, Christina, Ariel, Cassandra, and Sarah and the great-grandfather to Adrian, Eileen, Ronald and Henry.  He was the brother to Mariette Biron of Chichester, Solange Simpson of Florida, Lisette Fauteux of Epsom, Jacqueline Preve of Epsom, Cecile Adams of Florida, Claire Hadley of Manchester, Marthe Stavrou of Hooksett, Gisele Marquis of Londonderry, Diane Casey of Pembroke, Roger Marquis of Deerfield, Rita Robie of Candia and Leo Marquis of Webster.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 4th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 844 1st New Hampshire Turnpike, Northwood, NH.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 A.M.  In accordance with his wishes, burial will take place privately at a later date with immediate family.
