Ella Stanley Obituary

CONCORD- On April 13, 2020, Ella M. Stanley, 96 passed away peacefully at Havenwood Heritage Heights in Concord, NH.  Born in Everett, MA, Ella was the daughter of Nicolas and Mary (Smith) Coviello.  She was raised and educated in Wakefield, MA.  Ella joined the US Navy Reserve in 1944 where she trained as a nurse serving during WWII.

She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Guy O. Stanley, her siblings, Lena Coviello, Evelyn Giacalone, Christine Anderson, Mary Hanley, Marshall Coviello and William Coviello.

She is survived by four children: Lynda Cheney and husband Arthur, George Stanley and wife Meg, Robert Stanley and wife Diana and Michael Stanley and partner Charlotte Hill Coleman.

Ella is grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.  Ella is also survived by many nephews and nieces.  The family members reside across the US from Hawaii, California, Florida, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine.

Ella and her husband Guy owned and operated Southern New England Ship Supply Company in New Haven, CT and Chelsea, MA from 1967 thru 1991 when they retired.  Moving to Florida in 1994, Ella continued to enjoy knitting, sewing and gardening.

In 2011, Ella moved to New Hampshire to take up residence at Havenwood Heritage Heights Retirement Community where she enjoyed the company of her neighbors and, especially, her Wednesday and Friday morning candlepin bowling group.  Her flower garden was her joy because it made her neighbors smile as they passed by her cottage.

Adhering to the directives of the State of New Hampshire and the CDC, A Celebration of Her Life will be held later at a time to be announced.   Assisting the family with arrangements is Still Oaks Funeral Home in Epsom, NH.  To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.stilloaks.com
