Charles H. "Ham" Rice

HOOKSETT- In the early morning hours of December 27, 2021, Charles Hamilton “Ham” Rice, finally found peace with the love of his life, his wife of 51 years, Sandy, by his side.

Born in Lowell, MA on November 5, 1947, Ham was raised in Hooksett, NH. He attended Concord High School, graduating in 1965. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1970. After briefly working for Harvey Construction, Ham began working for the Engineering Department of the City of Concord, NH in 1974. He would be employed by the City for close to 35 years, retiring in 2007, as the Code Enforcement Administrator.

In retirement, Ham was able to spend time with his family, travel and pursue his passions for the outdoors, skiing and his 1967 GTO. A man who always showed so much compassion and kindness to others, Ham fought a multi-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia with positivity and grace before passing Monday morning. In the familial roles of husband to Sandy, and dad to daughter, Christie, and son, Dan, Ham filled his family life with laughter through his unique sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, daughter, son, four sisters, a goddaughter, three nephews, four nieces and five grandchildren. Throughout his life, Ham made a positive impact on many friends, family, and even strangers, often letting them know that “every day is a great day.” He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30th from 10 to 11 A.M. in the Petit-Roan Funeral Home 167 Main St. in Pembroke.  A Celebration of Ham’s Life will follow at 11 A.M. in the Funeral Home.  At the request of the family, face-coverings would be appreciated.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ham’s memory may be sent to Bayada Hospice, 194 Pleasant St. Suite 9, Concord, NH 03301.  To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.petitroan.com
