Charles Currier Obituary

PEMBROKE – Charles W. Currier Jr., 81, of Pembroke, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022 surrounded by his family following a period of declining health.

Born May 21, 1940 in Lynn, MA, and a lifelong resident of Allenstown and Pembroke, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Justine (Forcier) Currier.

Charlie was educated in the local schools and graduated from Pembroke Academy class of 1958. After a series of positions, he set to work at Alltex Uniform where he was employed as a Sales and Service Manager for over 40 years until his retirement. In his retirement he worked part-time doing maintenance work at Sully’s in Allenstown and maintaining his rental properties until 2020. Charlie enjoyed being active, whether it was doing yard work, fixing things around the house, or going on one of many cruises with his wife, Rose, and their circle of friends. He cherished family trips to the Outer Banks. He was not a man to sit still. Charlie often threw a turkey in the oven and invited everyone for impromptu “Thanksgiving” anytime of the year. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to share.  He enjoyed going to Antique Car Shows and loved bringing his grandchildren along, pointing out all the cars he owned over the years. He could identify the year and motor size of just about any car made.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Scott Currier, and a brother Phil Currier.

He is survived by the love of his life, Rose (Distadio) Currier of Pembroke, with whom he shared 65 years, their children, Kevin Currier and his wife Mary of Canton, GA, Suzanne Genest and her fiancé René Theroux of Litchfield, and Kellie Bassett and her husband Moe of Pembroke, siblings, John Currier of Hooksett and Jackie Mason of Allenstown. He was known as Grampy to Keegan Currier, Caitlin Currier and her fiancé Mathew Adcock, Dylan Gatta and husband Joseph, Marley Andrade and husband Hector, Adam Bassett, Marissa McGahan and husband Colin and Reed Bassett. He was Great Grampy to Asa Adcock, Penelope and Prudence McGahan, Zoey Gatta and one more on the way. He is also survived by best friends David and Judy Lewis of Concord, and Godchildren Sheryl Bernard, Lindsay Heath, Brian Bernard and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
