Pittsfield – Anton D. Wadleigh, 81 of Pittsfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 following a period of declining health.
Born on April 30, 1939 in Washington, DC; he was the son of the late Arthur and Marion (Delany) Wadleigh.
Anton was raised and educated in Plymouth, NH. He spent childhood days with neighborhood friends, exploring the woods and rivers of central NH. He was very fond of his Plymouth classmates and teachers. There he met his future wife, Joan (Tracy) Wadleigh, a well matched pair on the debate team. He greatly admired her; she was the love of his life. Anton married Joan, on September 23, 1961. They raised their family of 3 children.
Anton was a software engineer in his first work life. His most rewarding work was completed in Kwajalein Islands. He enjoyed the commradery and warmth of life in the islands. Upon return to the states, his life and family continued to grow in MA, later in southern CT. He retired from his field in 1995.
In retirement, he returned to NH, settling in Pittsfield. There he enjoyed work for several years as the Dairy Manager for Danis Market in Pittsfield. He truly enjoyed the people he met and came to know in town. He continued to enjoy class reunions and being outside watching birds, deer and other wildlife, and mowing his lawn, through the rest of his life.
Anton was predeceased by his wife as well as a daughter, Rebecca Wadleigh and siblings, Alicia Dargon, Anne Ingemundson and Alan Wadleigh.
He is survived by his children, Mark Wadleigh and his wife Annette of Bernardston, MA and Kathryn Wadleigh of Greenfield, MA., two granddaughters, Juliett and
Robbiann, two great granddaughters, Maia and Sarah, as well as four nephews, Hans Ingemundsen, Knut Ingemundson, George Dargon and Arthur Wadleigh. Anton requested no formal services. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 17, 2-4 pm at his home.
