Anna M. Allgeyer

Anna Marie Allgeyer passed away at 10:15PM on July 17, 2020 peacefully in her own home in Pembroke, NH after a period of declining health. She was born November 21, 1921 in Union City, NJ, a first generation American child of immigrants Julius Joseph Rimpler and Anna Caroline Unbekaant Rimpler from Stuttgart, Germany. She grew up in and around the metropolitan New York City area. Anna was fluent in both German and English and was a high school honors student. An intrepid traveler, once teen-aged Anna drove alone from upstate New York to Chicago and back in a weekend just to visit her uncle and cousins. She was working as a secretary at Lever Brothers in Manhattan when mutual friends introduced her to the man who became her husband three months later. Married on July 17, 1948, they moved to New Hampshire where they leased and operated Eddie's Texaco & Bottled Gas Station together on Route 3 in Allenstown for 10 years. The station had a small lunch counter where Anna's home-made pies and sympathetic ear gained her fame and popularity. Neighborhood kids called her "The Cookie Lady". An avid reader,  master gardener, seamstress, and film buff, Anna set aside time for a weekly handwritten correspondence with numerous friends and family for decades. After her children were grown, she returned to the workforce as a housekeeper at McKerley's Nursing Home from 1975-1997. She enjoyed traveling to see her children in Oregon, California, NYC, and Florida. An extended trip to Germany, France and Austria to meet her European cousins was a lifelong dream fulfilled. In later years, she was most happy landscaping her yard in Pembroke where she enjoyed mowing her lawn and shoveling her own driveway well into her 90's. Anna enthusiastically supported the Ellis Island project in NYC from its inception and was one of the first Americans to register her parents' immigration records there. An historic building in Suncook,NH was rechristened "The Rimpler Building" in honor of Anna's heritage when two of her sons purchased it. She had a wicked sense of humor, played Scrabble ruthlessly to win, and adored her children. Just 4 months shy of her 99th birthday, Anna passed on what would have been her 72nd wedding anniversary.
 Anna is predeceased by her husband Edward J. Allgeyer Sr. and her brother George Greiner. Our wonderful Matriarch leaves her 5 children: Edward Allgeyer and his wife Michele Moretti of Lake Butler, FL , Carl Allgeyer and his wife Debra Ladner of Rye, NH, Roy Allgeyer and his wife Lisa of Warrenton, OR, Katy Allgeyer and her late husband Scott Morgan of Stonington, ME, and Matthew Allgeyer and his life partner Patricia Holler of Pembroke,NH; 5 grandchildren Aaron Allgeyer, Kirsten Preble, Courtney Locke, Jesse Allgeyer, Alexandra Allgeyer; 12 great grandchildren Lucas Preble, Katelyn Preble, Avery Allgeyer, Logan Allgeyer, Lily Locke, Anastasia Locke, Abram Allgeyer, Roderick Allgeyer, Penelope Allgeyer, Scarlet Allgeyer, twins Freya and Callum Allgeyer; nephews Eric and Douglas Greiner, Franklin Allgeyer, and niece Gabrielle Corson. 

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Petit-Roan Funeral Home in Pembroke is assisting the family with arrangements.
