BOW- Mr. Robert R. Bannister, 84, of Bow and currently residing at the Harris Hill Center, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 13, 2018.
Born in Gary, Indiana, Robert was the son of the late Clarence R. and Jean (McEwan) Bannister. He was raised and educated in Indiana and had been a resident of New Hampshire for the past 45 years. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Korean Conflict, being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He later served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1961, being honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Prior to his retirement, Bob was employed by the Federal Government as an Air Traffic Controller. He was very handy around his home and enjoyed fixing things as well as gardening. He was also an avid Nascar enthusiast. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband and father and a doting grandfather.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Angela Marie Amsden.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Diane M. (Paul) Bannister; his children, Dr. Kevin Bannister and his wife Faith of Attica, NY, Kris Ann Chernik of Wasilla, Alaska and Holly Bannister Pedersen of California. He was the grandfather to Alexander Bannister, Lara Bannister, Shelby Chernik, Hayden Amsden, Emily Amsden and Delaney Amsden. He was the brother to James Bannister of Indianapolis, IN and Janice Clem of Chesapeake, VA.

A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, August 17th at 2:30 P.M. in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284.
