Kassie Lara Hamel

PEMBROKE- Kassie Lara Hamel, 32, of Pembroke passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at her residence.

Born on June 8, 1985 in Manchester NH, she was the beloved daughter of Wayne and Patricia (Spano) Hamel of Manchester.

Kassie was a graduate of Manchester schools, including St. Joseph’s Regional Junior High and Central High School Class of 2003. She also attended the University of NH. For several years she owned and operated K&R Detailing in Hooksett with her longtime partner Rich. She also held positions with Bonneville & Son, Lyman Construction and more recently with R.G. Tombs Door Company in Hooksett. Kassie was very proud to hold positions which were not the norm for most women. She became skilled at whatever she put her mind to and was always up to a challenge.

Kassie had a smile that would light up a room and was always quick to share it.  A fun-loving mom, she was a favorite of many of her son’s friends.  She loved family and friends and the simple pleasures of life, especially those few occasions when she could finally beat her Mem at cards. Kassie was very athletic and excelled at many sports, including soccer, basketball, track & field, surfing and especially volleyball. She was very active in sports throughout her youth and went on to coach for the Central High School JV girls’ volleyball team after graduating. She enjoyed coaching her son’s Suncook Little League team for several seasons.

Besides her parents, Kassie is survived by her longtime partner Richard Towne of Pembroke, her son and light of her life Dylan Towne of Pembroke, her paternal grandmother, Edna Hamel of Dover, her brother, Ian Hamel and his wife Stephanie of Dover as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 13th, 2017 from 1:00PM – 3:00PM at the Petit-Roan Funeral Home, 167 Main Street, Pembroke, NH.  If you knew Kassie and plan to join the family for the celebration, you know she would prefer everyone to dress casually.  Shorts and sandals are welcome and encouraged!
