CHICHESTER – John L. Howlett, 71, of Chichester, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 following a lengthy fight against the effects of exposure to Agent Orange.
Born on March 3, 1947 in Gardner, MA, he was the son of the late Foster L. and Edna A. (Mahwinnie) Howlett.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army, seeing two tours of duty in Vietnam before his honorable discharge. He went on to receive an Associate’s Degree in Science as well as an Associate’s in Nursing from NHTI and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Springfield College. His passion for serving his country and caring for patients showed in his every day. John had a love for fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening and landscaping which he passed on to all his children and grandchildren. He was a modern homesteader.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his siblings, Thomas, Stephen and Andrew Howlett and Nancy Murdock.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine (DeAngelis) Howlett with whom he shared 51 years; son, Sean L. Howlett and his wife Kris of Barnstead; daughters, Lori C. Howlett and her husband Michael Brown of Norwood, MA and Sarah A. Howlett of Chichester; his siblings, Pauline Joubert of Penacook and Douglas Howlett of Southbridge, MA; grandchildren, Drew, Alyssa, Patrick, Kayleigh, Nicolas, Jessica, Thomas, Joseph and Madelyn as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11 A.M. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home of Epsom.
