Evelyn (Fontaine) Giroux

March 7, 1919 ~ April 15, 2017 (age 98) 98 Years Old


ALLENSTOWN- Mrs. Evelyn (Fontaine) Giroux, 98, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home after a long illness.

Born in Pembroke, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Ernest and Annie (Rheault) Fontaine.  She was raised and educated in Pembroke and was a longtime resident of Manchester before moving to Allenstown with her husband after retiring.

In earlier years, she worked for Woolworths in Manchester and held several positions in the local shoe and manufacturing industries.  A longtime communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, she was a life member of both the St. Therese Rosebush Society and the Ladies of Sainte Anne.

She enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and Atlantic City but above all, cherished the time spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

The family expresses gratitude for all of the compassion and loving care provided by staff at Hillsborough County Nursing Home.

She was predeceased by her husband, Allen Giroux and two sons, Roland and Richard Giroux.

She is survived by three sons: Roger Giroux and his wife Carole of Cary, NC, Ronald Giroux and his wife Eleanor of Manchester and Robert Giroux of Manchester.  She was the mother-in-law of Sharon Giroux of Colfax, WI and Linda Giroux of Hooksett  She was the loving grandmother to Ronald Giroux and his wife Deb, Brian Giroux, David Giroux and his wife Taryn, Amy Thompson and her husband Richard, Craig Giroux, Corey Giroux, Glen Giroux and Jody Giroux; great grandmother to Monique Wanamaker and her husband Craig, Luke, Carter, Sarah and Owen; and great great grandmother to Bryson.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, April 21st from 4 to 7 P.M. in the Petit-Roan Funeral Home 167 Main St. in Pembroke.  A Mass of Christian Burial be held on Saturday, April 22nd at 11 A.M in St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown.  Burial will take place at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester.  In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Evelyn’s memory may be sent to the Hillsborough County Nursing Home Activities Fund, 400 Mast. Rd.
