BOW – Edward F. Flattery, 73 of Bow, passed away on unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 9, 2019.
Born on September 30, 1945 in Lynn, MA, he was the son of the late Frederick and Jeanette (St. Laurent) Flattery.
Edward was educated in Massachusetts, graduating from Gloucester High in 1965 and later went on to attend The Culinary Institute of America, where he earned an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts. He then attended The Educational Institute of American Hotel and Motel Association, receiving a Food & Beverage Management and Service Certificate and finally attended Johnson and Wales, finishing with not only a Manager Certification but also a Bachelor’s of Science in Food Management.
Mr. Flattery was well known for his pastry trade including his French pastries. He held many positions during his career, ranging from Professor at The Culinary Institute of America, Johnson and Wales and Massasoit Community College, Assistant Director at the Academy of Culinary Arts in Mays Landing, NJ, Executive Chef for The Bay Club in Boston, The Hotel Sonesta and the Beverly Yacht Club as well as the owner of his own company for many years called “The Finishing Touch.” He moved to Bow four years ago to be closer to his sister, deciding it was time to slow down.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Frederick Flattery, Jr.
He is survived by his sister, Helen Case of Pembroke; sister-in-law, Barbara Flattery of Londonderry; Nephews, Michael Case and his wife Stephanie, Brian Case and his wife Heather, Wayne Flattery and Craig Flattery and his wife Donna; Nieces, Cindy Bringhurst, Laurie Lawler and her husband Jeff and Kim Flattery as well as several great nieces and nephews.
