Sophie Holerick

Sophie Holerick, 89 of Concord passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at her residence.

Born on June 24, 1928 in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Bartolomew and Carolina (Galka) Furman.

Sophie came to the United States in 1943 as an orphan in San Pedro, CA, she was later taken to a Catholic orphanage in Mexico in 1946 she re-entered the United States and met her husband Frank Holerick in San Diego and together they moved to Somerville, MA. Frank passed in 1985 and Sophie moved to Concord 1986.

She had a love for birds and always had at least two parakeets “budgies” in the house at any time. She enjoyed nature and feeding wildlife, she also found peace crocheting and knitting.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three siblings, Henryk, Maria and Antoni.

She is survived by a niece, Joanna (Furman) Oaks and her husband Michael of MI and a nephew, George Furman and his wife Patricia of MI as well as two great nieces, Angelica Furman of UT and Erica Zakrzewski of CA.

Services for Sophie will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The Petit-Roan Funeral Home in Pembroke is assisting the family with arrangements. Donations in Sophie’s memory may be made to the Pope Memorial SPCA, 94 Silk Fam Road, Concord, NH 03301.
