Rita Hamel

ALLENSTOWN – Rita Hamel, 90, of Allenstown, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born on February 28, 1927 in Pembroke, the daughter of the late Philip and Blanche (Gagnon) Brasley.

Rita worked for over 30 years as the Head Cashier for Bi-Wise (Sully’s). She was a lifetime member of the St. Therese Rosebush Society as well as a member of the Ladies of Sainte Anne. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening and making time for her breakfast club with the ladies of the church.

Besides her parents, Rita was predeceased by her husband Albert C. Hamel in 2013, her brothers, Reneé, Msgr. Lucien, Leo, William, Donald and Gerard Brasley and sisters, Irene Denault, Dora Martel and Jean Dow.

Rita is survived by her children, Helene Hicks and her husband Ronald Hicks, Sr. of Vine Grove, KY, Dennis Hamel of Allenstown, David Hamel of Allenstown and Heidi Hamel of Hopkinton; siblings, Constance Towle, Helen Cote and Roland Brasley; six grandchildren, Ronald Jr., Thomas and Byron Hicks, Christopher Leavitt and Hannah and Olivia Hamel; eight great grandchildren, Cassie, Thomas Jr., Austin, Tyler, Tristan, Trenten, Koda and Tyler as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 17th  at 11 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Allenstown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rita’s memory to the Visiting Nurses Association-Manchester, 1070 Holt Ave, #4, Manchester, NH 03109.
